Local Labour MP Mr James Purnell - The Work & Pensions Secretary has resigned from Gordon Browns Government following recent allegations in the Daily Telegraph about his expenses claims and the ongoing internal Labour party debate into who is best to lead them into the next General Election.

Tameside Lib Dems urge a General Election is called as soon as possible to let the voters decide who is best to represent them in these challenging economic times.
